Healthy Delicious Meals

Healthy Delicious Meals

With a full-time chef and a kitchen staff that prepares and provides three meals daily, residents at Magnolia never have to worry about skipping meals, warming food or a lack of nourishment.

Meals are coordinated by an in-house Certified Dietary Manager with 25 years of experience in long-term care. As someone who appreciates good food, his recipes lead to a wide variety of delicious meals.

Residents are served in a spacious dining area and eat on handsome wooden tables. Dining tables are arranged to encourage social interaction during meals. Eating with friends and staff is not only better than eating alone, it also allows casual observance of an individual's eating habits and whether significant changes are occurring.

Special dietary needs are anticipated and provide no problem for our kitchen staff. Also, we know there are always going to be a few people who don't care for a particular meal, and to accommodate them we offer the option of something like soup, a sandwich, or a salad.

Security

The security of residents is always on the top of our mind at Magnolia. Although residents are allowed to come and go as they please, we do lock doors each night. The residence is also staffed with assistants around the clock.

To further enhance safety, Magnolia utilizes a closed circuit video monitoring system with cameras that are located in halls and common area as well as other strategic locations.

Housekeeping

If there is one thing that the entire staff of Magnolia agrees on, it is keeping a clean house. Residents, family members and visitors frequently express how surprised and amazed they are that Magnolia can maintain such a clean facility and fresh scent.

Our secret is a housekeeping staff that takes pride in its work and is composed of individuals some of who have a background in professional housecleaning.

Housekeeping services include:
  • Cleaning, dusting, and mopping rooms and bathrooms.
  • Washing, drying and folding laundry twice weekly.
  • Changing beds each week (or in the event of an accident)
  • Emptying trash
  • Cleaning windows and wiping down fixtures as needed
  • Assisting residents when they are cleaning their room.

On-Site Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Services

Ache and pains in joints and muscles are common in people as they age. For seniors, these aches and pains can sometimes be debilitating and, if left untreated, can lead to other physical problems and emotional problems.

At Magnolia, through an agreement with Performance Rehab, we have certified Physical Therapists on site Monday through Friday. These certified therapists provide physical therapy, occupational therapy and rehabilitative services in a specially equipped physical therapy room. Residents are appreciative of the convenience which makes it easy to stay on schedule and reap the benefits.

Mental Health and Emotional Counseling

Through Region IV Mental Health Services of the State of Mississippi, Magnolia Assisted Living offers professional counseling for residents diagnosed with Dementia, Alzheimer or other memory concerns. Counseling services are also extended to the family members of residents.

Counseling sessions include:
  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy

Through Region IV Mental Health of Mississippi providers are also made available to monitor medications and make suggestions to a resident's physicians to make sure a resident's medications are ordered appropriately.

Medication Management

Medication Management Medications for residents at Magnolia are managed by a licensed nurse who is available Monday to Friday. If medication services are needed after hours, either the nurse or her substitute is on-call around the clock.

This is an important service for seniors and their family members because it eliminates many of the medication concerns that are often problematic among seniors. Some of these problems include forgetting to refill prescriptions, substituting medications and not being able to recall whether a pill was properly taken.

Because of the relationships that are built with residents, the nurse and staff are also sometimes able to notice if significant changes occur as a result of a recent change in medication.
We also have seen many residents whose well-being and health have improved from simply taking their medication as prescribed.
